It’s been a while since my last bookshop, but that’s not due to the lack of choice in London (it’s due to laziness).
However, last weekend I finally managed to get out of the house and trundled down to Holborn to the cutest street- and also bookshop- I’ve seen for quite some time: Persephone Books.
As you might have guessed by the name, Persephone Books is an independent bookshop with a difference: it only sells books by twentieth-century female authors it feels deserves more attention. Aiming to strike the perfect balance between ‘literary and commercial’, many the books sold are bound in some very classy grey covers (with extra bookmarks that match the endpapers, ahhh!!!).
Basically, this place is heaven for anybody who loves their literature: there’s soothing music, lots and lots of niche books, and it’s full of people with their noses stuck in their latest find. The bookshop even runs events– everything from a Christmas-themed opening day to film viewings- for those hard-core book lovers. There’s even a coffee shop down the road…
Cultured, sophisticated and a heaven for literary junkies everywhere: there’s nothing that’s not to like about Persephone Books. Whether you’re there for a quick visit or a heavy browsing session, it’s perfect.
Plus, girl power!
I love Persephone books. I need to visit when pay day comes around! Love this post.

Thank you! Haha yes I think I may pay it a second visit once I get paid as well… an early Christmas present to myself 😀

What a beautiful shop that is! And such a unique idea as well to have it so focused. I want to visit SO BAD.

Oh I loved this bookshop so much when I visited! It was part of my bookshop adventure through London and it was so nice to step into a world where female authors are celebrated. Great post!
