WWW Wednesday!

Good afternoon to you all, and welcome to a (long overdue) WWW Wednesday! Hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Worlds, this is a really fun way to share what you’ve been reading with the wider blogging community- and I can’t wait to burble on about all the books I’ve read/ am looking forward to reading!

Here we go:

What are you currently reading?

Currently, this beauty! Alongside this gorgeous cover, peeling the cover back on this book was an extremely exciting moment. I loved The Last Namsara, so returning to the world of dragons and warrior queens is going to be absolutely great…

Also, I did actually interview Kristen Ciccarelli (big up!) last year, so if you’re looking for some more on that front then do have a read!

What did you recently finish reading?

Yeah, it’s a pretty mixed bag. I’m really trying to round out my love of fantasy with some more mainstream fiction so I just finished Joe Heap’s The Rules of Seeing (and it’s well worth a read, I can very much assure you!) in the interests of diversifying my reading list.

Then onto the fantasy… The Ember Blade is a stinking great book and it is amazing. A little like Cold Iron, a little like history (specifically, the Celts and the Romans), it’s really well written and dispatches its characters with alarming ease. Finally, a YA book to round things out: Emiko Jean’s Empress of All Seasons, which has a great premise and which I don’t want to say too much about. Keep your eyes peeled for the review 😉

What do you think you’ll read next?

Next on the list are these three beauties, all of which I’m very excited to read! I really love Sebastien de Castell’s quirky little Spellslinger series, so diving back into the world of magic and talking squirrel casts will be a lovely light read that I’ll probably save for when I’m feeling miserable, like a Monday morning. On the other hand, Witchsign is a book I’ve been waiting to get my hands on for a very long time… I’m practically chomping at the bit to get started on this one, maybe because of the awesome cover. And finally- Minette Walters, crime author extraordinaire, turns her hand to historical fiction in a village invaded by the Black Death. Intriguing…

Perhaps I’ll have to flip a coin to decide which to read first!

That’s my list! What are you all reading this week? Let me know in the comments 🙂 Happy WWW Wednesday!
